Alan M. Friedman has over 35  years of experience representing co-op corporations, condominium associations, corporations, and more in corporate and transactional matters. Mr. Friedman represents co-op corporations, condominium associations, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and individuals with respect to corporate and transactional matters. His practice focuses on representing Cooperative Apartment Corporations and Condominium Associations on a broad array of matters including commercial leases, financing, construction contracts, service contracts, apartment transfers, and general corporate matters. In conjunction with the litigation attorneys of the firm, he is also involved in construction defect litigation, landlord-tenant matters, and a variety of other litigation affecting co-ops and condominiums.

Mr. Friedman also handles cooperative and condominium conversions, including two No Action Letter coop conversions for low-income housing cooperatives (HDFCs), which were probably the largest of such conversions in the State, 139 and 239 units. Mr. Friedman represents numerous Housing Development Fund Corporations (HDFCs), which are low-income housing cooperatives – the firm has a reputation for handling legal matters in the area of affordable housing with representative clients such as Common Ground Community. Mr. Friedman’s real estate practice also includes representing purchasers and sellers in residential and commercial real estate transactions and landlords and tenants in commercial leasing transactions. Mr. Friedman’s corporate and partnership practice includes forming corporations, LLCs, and partnerships, as well as general corporate matters including partnership agreements, stockholder agreements, and asset and stock purchase agreements.

Outside of his professional work, Mr. Friedman is a passionate collector of early phonographs, movie projectors, movie cameras, moving picture memorabilia, and Edison memorabilia. He has given public school presentations and demonstrations on these topics.
