Eugene F. Getty has over 30 years of legal experience in New York. His practice focuses on asset recovery and cooperative apartment corporations and condominium associations. Mr. Getty has represented large Mitchell-Lama cooperatives regulated by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. In addition to handling regulatory issues with supervisory agencies, Mr. Getty provides his cooperative and condominium clients with advice and guidance on finance, construction contracts, construction litigation, corporate governance, commercial leasing, mortgage refinancing, and other matters necessary for the successful operation of housing companies.
While much of Mr. Getty’s practice focuses on working with co-ops and condominium associations, he is also a recognized expert in civil fraud litigation and international asset recovery.
Mr. Getty also has experience in bankruptcy matters and successfully represented a New York hospital in the first pre-packaged Chapter 11 proceeding filed in the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Getty’s current bankruptcy practice is focused on Chapter 15 filings in aid of foreign bankruptcies.
